Despite appearing like a dark wisp, the figure had a solid grip.
"I... I'm sorry." you stammer out and the cloaked figure let's go of your hand. You wrap both of them around yourself and step back. "I was..." Why were you...?
"Curious." they answer. "Just like everyone else..." They stand up and you turn to see the Soldier giving them a level stare.
"Anything you'd like to tell me about the trench this time, Cloak?" The soldier asked.
"The trench might not be of my concern right now." the figure, Cloak, says before turning their attention back to you. "Nor is my identity to you, as it won't give you the answers you seek."
You look down, disappointed. Something about Cloak felt familiar, you realize, but you can't pin down what.
"Here." Cloak holds out their hand, in which a white box with a black question mark floats. They hand it to you. "These are your answers, but you must find the right clues and ask the right questions before you will be able to open it."
"Thank you." you gawk at the box and how it hovers perfectly in your hands.
"You can shrink or grow it with a thought and place it in the pocket of your inside-out apron."
"Apron... Inside out?"
"Well, I must be going." Cloak walks into the mist and easily disappears.

Maybe I'm still getting over the fact that Homestuck has ended, but I've always wanted to try an interactive story like that, albeit much shorter. This is where everyone else comes in - the readers may chose what the protagonist will do! Check out the story on PENANA for further details!
